FAQ about Veteran License Plates
Do you have military files or archives?
No. We do not have any military records whatsoever, nor do we have access to them. We are a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to helping living veterans and their families.
I already have a veteran plate, but I now have another vehicle. What should I do?

- If your service in the regular force ended before 1998, please contact Library and Archives Canada:

How long does it take to get a copy of my military records?
R: We do not know, as we are not affiliated with Library and Archives Canada or the Department of National Defence. We have been informed that this can sometimes take up to a month. Please plan your request accordingly.
How long does it take to receive my veteran license plate?
R: If your request is approved, it will be sent to the SAAQ for final review and manufacturing. We are not part of the SAAQ and therefore cannot estimate timelines. Contact the SAAQ for more information:

R: The SAAQ will send it to you by mail to your home, at the address indicated on your application form, along with your new registration certificate.
I already have a veteran plate, but I now have another vehicle. What should I do?
R: You must fill out a new application form and attach your proof of service again. Each application is processed independently, and the SAAQ requires proof for each application.
What types of proof of service should I provide with my application?
R:
- Active service:
- CAF ID Card (NDI 10/20)
- Summary of Military Files (SMPM / PE-806)
- In retirement:
- Veteran Card (NDI 75)
- Certificate of Release or Discharge from Military Service
- Police or correctional services
- Official letter confirming a NATO or UN mission
- GRC
- Official attestation confirming a peacekeeping mission
- Active service:
SECTION 2
Archives of the Legion
Do you have files on members of the Legion?
R: No. We only have access to basic membership numbers for most affiliates dating back to the late 90s. We do not have any paper records.
A person claims to have been a member of a subsidiary. Can you verify?
R: No. As each branch is independent, it is up to them to maintain their own membership records, if they wish and have the means to do so.

Mutual aid office
Do you have any lawyers?
R: As a non-profit charitable organization, we do not have lawyers who can provide legal advice or act on your behalf. However, our outreach officer can guide you to the right resources and help you fill out the necessary forms for your file with ACC.
